In
Memory and Thanks She was a
woman of a garden where everything was "keen".
I first turned the soil as a very little
boy for a dime an hour, although the attention span was low.
She planted a seed that was really slow
to grow, but near her end she saw it start to show.
That little boy stopped chasing frogs
and made a garden grow.

Dear Peter and Lisa --
There's something about a misty day in Longview -- particularly on a Sunday afternoon --
when nothing much else matters down town -- and one's attention
is diverted to what else is happening in the outskirts around and about. A visit to
Evergreen Terrace Gardens the last Sunday in April was for us a
fasinating and delightfully engrossing pleasure on just such a dewey day.
The skylight from a
Southern perspective seems to enhance the color of things while at the same time
subtracting harsh distracting shadows -- leaving one
almost alone with lovely botanicals enhanced by gem like reflections produced by
refractions of light from droplets of moisture held delicately in place by
only the axels of the leaves and needles beginning to bend under the temporary weight from
above.
We are so very happy we came when we did. Thank you for showing us around.
Jean and I can't hardly wait -- the opportunity for another Sunday afternoon
visit -- perhaps on another misty day. The gardens so artistically beautiful, we are
tempted someday to inquire, whose idea was it? How did it all come together?
Cordially,
James B and Alice I (Jean) McCoy
